Why Holiday in The Philippines?

Why on earth would an Aussie who lives in one of the most beautiful places in Australia, choose to travel overseas to stay in a place that is just like the Whitsunday island where he lives?

It is a question I have been asked on occasion, and there's really no logical answer.  I mean, I love my Whitsundays.  I have a yacht in the Whitsundays and the first thing i felt as we approached Isla Verde, which is in Batangas, only a couple of hours from Manila, was "Wow! I'm Home!".

Here is a link to the resort web page:

This is how the bay where the resort has been built looked the moment I first saw it.    (click  'Read More'  to continue)

That's it.  The same coral rubble beaches in some places, the same beautiful sand interrupted by rocky coastline in others.   And the wonderful contrast of green tropical hills and sparkling blue water.

I suppose there are a few huge differences between Isla Verde and the Whitsundays.  The first is the people live on this seven and a half by four and a half mile long island.  Another is the absence of Box Jellyfish, Irukanji and big salt water crocodiles.  And the coral.  In the deeper areas it is the equal of the coral on our Great Barrier Reef, but where snorkeling is pretty limited around the Whitsunday Islands, you can snorkel over coral in clear water right off the beaches at Isla Verde.

This is where Isla Verde Tropical Friendly Resort was built.  It has changed quite a lot in a couple of years!

For more information about what's happening at IslaVerde Tropical Friendly resort you can check the resort's blog at:

There are lots of photos of Isla.  In future posts we will look at the resort and do a little exploring around this beautiful island.
